Jessica's Jukai

I was asked to draw a picture with only one direction given "sea and trees" so I knew I had to incorporate the sea and a dense forest. I thought that a forest on the edge of a lake left me with little room to fill with sea creatures and a lot of dead space under the trees. To get past this issue I decided to put the sea under the trees hidden in a cavern never seen by surface dwellers. I filled the sea with Cephalopods and fishes and then packed into the dense wood land strange unrecognisable creature crawl amongst the foliage.

I've been waiting on pens for forever  but the bank holiday is nearly over so other projects can continue, meanwhile I've been expanding the big one.

Bollywood Bonanza

So I got asked by the lovely people at Happy Daze to create a Bollywood inspired image for their next night. I came up with a few ideas but mirrored images seem to have the desired affect. A new instalment of the big piece, I've taken a break from it over the last couple of weeks instead I've been drawing a fantasy underwater landscape and some bollywood themed doodles. Both will be up here soon but for now back on with the beastie.

Now I've finished the tower it's back to work on the big garden, today I have been mostly filling out the sides a little. Towering Towers

When my mind is too busy to sit and draw a landscape I inevitably end up drawing towers. This one was meant to be a single day project but took me almost a week.

So after a massive wait I have my replacement pens and can continue on with the big one, this session I filled out it's sides a little.

And now for something completely different....

Sometimes my doodles don't follow the normal pattern and they often culminate in strange unusual worlds. Here's a couple I did over new years, who knows what was on my mind.

Tools Of The Trade

I've tried many different pens but the best I've found are Letraset's Pro Markers. They're solvent based and allow me to create large areas of block colour without those pesky felt pen lines.

On The Go!

There is nothing better than completing a massive piece of work in the comfort of my studio but it's not the only place I like to draw. When I'm out and about I find myself more heavily influenced by the sights, sounds and people around me. All of the above were made whilst I pottered around India, allowing the strange land to sculpt my small doodled landscapes.
